The Nigerian Ministry of Agriculture has assured farmers in Nasarawa State of providing them with fertiliser and improved seed varieties sufficient to boost their agricultural production in the state.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Napthali Dachor, who represented the commissioner of Agriculture revealed that government has made plans ahead of the farming season from which farmers would benefit.
The commissioner explained that the state Ministry of Agriculture’s plan included pre-farming season training for farmers in the state to enable them single out the seedlings that would be best for cultivation.
He spoke on the importance of the training as the climate has drastically changed due to global warming affecting crop planting and harvesting.
According to him, “So we have been up and doing as far as the ministry is concerned and with the installation of modern machines for fertilizer production in the state, a priority of Governor Al-Makura to ease the burden of getting fertilizer by farmer which used to be very expensive, we now have a blending plant that is capable of producing sufficient fertilizers for our farmers.”
He added that plans are ongoing by the state government for a booming agriculture policy that would be beneficial to both small and large scale farmers.
