The inauguration of the 9th National Assembly has commenced in Abuja.
Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Olori who presided over the session, read the proclamation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
After citing orders 2, 5, 7 of the Senate chamber, the event proceeded with roll call.
The lawmakers are voting to choose their leaders at the Session.
The candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ahmed Lawan is running against Senator Ali Ndume, endorsed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the President of the Senate while the APC candidate, Femi Gbajabiamila is running against Mohammed Bago for the Speaker of House of Representatives.
There are 107 Senators present at the inauguration, out of the 109 Senators expected.
