Imo State new Governor, Hope Uzodinma

The new Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has made his first appearance at the meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, taking place in Abuja with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presiding.

Uzodinma, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in last year’s Imo State governorship election, was sworn in as governor last week following the judgment of the Nigerian Supreme Court, which nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Among other governors attending the meeting are Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Simon Lalong of Plateau, all of who had their elections affirmed by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Issues that may be on the agenda of Thursday’s NEC meeting include the repayment of the Budget Support Fund given to states by the Nigerian Government and security.

At one of the meetings of the Council last year, the Governors complained that the N252 million being deducted from their monthly allocations from the Federation Account was high and asked that it be reduced to N162 million.
