Niger state farmers expect bumper harvest

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Niger chapter says it is expecting bumper harvest this year due to the support from both the federal and state governments.

Alhaji Shehu Galadima, Chairman AFAN in the state said this in Minna, Niger state.

We want to thank the Federal and Niger state governments for their timely intervention for this year’s farming season.

“We got farm inputs and implements such as improved seeds, cassava stems, herbicides, power tillers, tractors, fertilisers and others.

“The AFAN farmers in Niger state are sure of bumper harvest this year because they utilised the farm inputs and implements in their farms,” he said.

Galadima said that the farmers got the inputs and implements at government subsidised rate.

The AFAN chairman said that the torrential rainfall this year was another factor that would help increase food production for the farmers.

He said that the farmers benefited from the various agricultural intervention programmes of government and did the needful to reciprocate the gesture toward good results.

He expressed optimism that the farmers would witness bumper harvest this year in spite of the flooding that submerged some farm lands in the state.

AFAN has about 1.6 million farmers in the state.
