Nigeria condemns demolition of diplomatic quarters in Ghana

The Nigerian Government has condemned the demolition of a residential building on its diplomatic premises in Accra, Ghana.

According to a source who spoke with Voice of Nigeria, the building housing staff of the Nigerian High Commission was demolished around 2 am on Saturday morning by an unknown person who claimed that the property was built on his land.

Reacting to the news of the demolition via his twitter handle on Sunday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama condemned the attack on the Nigerian property.

Mr. Onyeama said that the Nigerian Government is in talks with the Ghanaian government to find the perpetrators of the act and also seek ways to protect Nigerian property and interest in Ghana.

In an official statement later released on Sunday night, the Nigeria High Commission to Ghana said it had submitted a “‘strongly worded” letter of protest to the Ghanaian government.
