Nigeria and Switzerland have pledged their commitment in addressing human trafficking.

The Permanent Secretary in the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olunkunle Bamgbose, disclosed this at the opening session of the High Level Dialogue between Nigeria and Switzerland in Abuja, Nigeria.

Ambassador Bambgose, the head of the Nigerian delegation, also pledged both countries commitment in the facilitation of the re integration of migrants.

“We hope for more collaborative effort in addressing human trafficking and in facilitating reintegration programme for migrants, said Ambassador, Bambgose.”

“Am confident that this round of our deliberation will move the process closer to the realisation of the set objectives”, he explained.

Ambassador Bambgose noted that the high dialogue, which takes place annually, has helped in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

“Our two countries have succeeded in streamlining the issues of mutual interest in a coherent process.”

On her part, the Head of the Swiss delegation, Ambassador Krystyna Marty Lang, said the relations between Nigeria and Switzerland have been positive and productive.

“The quality of our relations is reflected in the high level exchanges and joint successes.”

She said both countries have achieved a lot in the fields of migration and human rights.

Ambassador Lang noted that the high level dialogue would deepen the already good and close relations between both countries.

On this year’s dialogue Ambassador Lang expressed optimism that the two countries will find many more new fields to intensify the cooperation.

Nigeria and Switzerland have good and close relations encompassing not only economic matters but also high level institutional talks on human rights issues and migration partnership.
