The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amechi has disclosed that the Kano- Kaduna rail project will commence as soon as his Ministry secures the loan it’s seeking.
He stated in an interview with newsmen shortly after he paid a courtesy visit to Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai at the Sir Kashim House, Kaduna.
The Minister said the Kano-Kaduna rail project will be heading towards Ibadan to join the Lagos railway.
According to Mr. Amechi, the rail will convey about 30 million tons of cartridge and that Kaduna people can take advantage of the movement of the goods.
“Kaduna can also be a hub which will grow the economy and also create job opportunities”.
He also applauded Governor El-Rufai for appointing youths especially females into his cabinet. “Considering the Northern background, you would not expect a high number of females to be appointed to help run the affairs of the State” he said.
The Minister said he will also be visiting the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, NITT in Zaria on a working visit.
