The Nigerian Army has said that it is re-strategising on its tactics towards the fight against insurgency in the country.
The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi Rtd, disclosed this in Kaduna, North West Nigeria during the Nigerian Chief of Army Annual conference 2019 with the theme “Application of Cutting Edge of the Nigerian Army in Tackling Contemporary Security Challenges”.
Major General Magashi said: “Coming next year will be boko haram’s last activities in Nigeria as the Army will not give them breathing space to operate, promising that, all the challenges confronting the Nigerian Army will be met.”
He congratulated Chief of Army Staff and officers and soldiers of on Nigerian Army for having success in operational year as he said that this would made the government to know the support the Nigerian Army needed to completely defeat Boko Haram in the country.
Also speaking, the Nigerian Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant Tukur Buratai disclosed that “the conference gives the Nigerian Army opportunity to evaluate the activities of Nigerian Army in carrying out their operational responsibilities.”
Buratai said: “The Army has achieved its overall objectives especially in indigenous innovations through research and training.”
He added that the vehicles have been tested in the various theatre of operations against the insurgents.
Director General Major Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria, DICON General Ezugwu was commended by the Nigerian President for the Innovative for the unveiled different military vehicles of indigenous innovations and inventive and the Nigerian Army in general.
Highlight of the event were the presence the Nigerian President and Chief of Armed Forces of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, Former of of Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, Representatives of Kano and Zamfara government, Governor of Kaduna State, Naziru Elufai, the Chairman senate Committee of Nigerian Army, |Senator Aliyu Nkume, the Chairman House Committee of Nigerian Army, Abdulrazal Namdas, the Nigerian Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi, Chief of Naval Staff,Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar amongst others.
