Nigerian army tours northeast for on-the-spot assessment

The Nigerian Army has taken about 40 Online publishers on a tour of Maiduguri, Borno State Capital for on-the-spot assessment of the war against boko haram in the region in the past ten years.

The move according to the Army is to boost it’s strategic multiple approaches on the war against terrorism, thereby bringing lasting peace to the North-Eastern region of the country.

It is also a way of deploying new information management idea to clampdown on the insurgents in the Northeastern Nigeria.

The delegation of the social media influencers /bloggers drawn from across the country was led by Brig. General EO Aladeniyi, Austin Peacemaker and Chris Nwandu into the city of Maiduguri for the two-day assessment tour.

The assessment and facility tour according to the Army “is to keep the media abreast of information on the current status of the region and to spotlight the efforts and the sacrifice of the Nigerian Army theatre operations “Operation Lafiya Dole” and for them to fully assess the security situation in the North-East as against getting news and releases from the Department of Army Public Relations (PRO) media, especially the online platforms in the country.”

Receiving the team to Maiduguri, the Deputy Head of Army Public Relations, Colonel A D Isa informed the team that the visit would give them a first-hand information that will help the media form its opinion about war against insurgency and its operations.

In his remarks, Executive Director Security Affairs Ltd, Mr. Austin Peacemaker, reiterated the importance of the visit, stressing that the tour would afford face to face opportunity to the Online Media Journalists/Media Influencers well informed knowledge on the activities of the military operations on the ongoing war against insurgency.

The team is expected to visit a number of Army formations in the North-east and also tour other areas to include the Internally Displaced Persons camps among other areas in the State.

Since the coming of Muhammadu Buhari administration, the Nigerian Army has made major strides in the area of humanitarian and empowerment programs that has direct bearings to the Nigerian populace, in such areas like healths, education, skills acquisition, housing, etc
