The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division of Nigerian Army Sokoto Major- General Hakeem Otiki, has charged officers and men of the Division on increased discipline which he described as a bedrock of achieving success in any aspects of the living and in defending the country’s integrity.

General Otiki gave the warning while taking over the Division’s leadership from the outgoing GOC Major General Stevensen Olabinji in Sokoto State North West Nigeria.

According to him, the outgoing GOC made giant developments on infrastructure and services in the Division and he vowed to continue with good works for proper service delivery.

He explained that the present operation ‘Sharan Daji’ should not be extended to Sokoto due to their high dedication and urged personnel to ensure maximum discipline in the discharge of their duties.

“We are here to keep others asleep while we are awake so the best miracle of our success is maximum discipline.

“We are here to live marks, young officers should emulate senior ones on dedication to duties and commitments”  General Otiki said.

He also cautioned officers and soldiers against involving themselves in the coming supplementary elections without proper authorisation from Army headquarters as any officer found leading men to any town or polling station without permission will be investigated and sanctioned accordingly.

He said Army should not get involved in any form of the upcoming Saturday’s re-run election in the state, but ensure peaceful atmosphere during and after the election while on duty.

The new GOC assured the Division more cooperation and understanding during his stay which would help to deliver their constitutional responsibilities in the country.
