Nigerian Navy vows to sustain achievements in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Navy has vowed to sustain achievements recorded in the maritime domain to enhance national prosperity and security.

The Flag Officer of the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral David Adeniran stated this during a parade organized in his honour at the Nigerian Navy Ship Victory grounds, Calabar, Cross River State, southern Nigeria.

Rear Admiral Adeniran, who just concluded a familiarization tour of units within his command, said “the tour revealed high level of readiness to combat identified security challenges in line with the vision of the Chief of Naval Staff.

“This high state of readiness is a result of the efforts of several individuals and groups and to sustain the standard, we must intensify efforts in the areas of discipline, relentless patrol, in house training and maintenance culture this command is noted for,” stated Adeniran.

According to him, “the vision of the Chief of Naval Staff in developing credible naval power in fulfillment of the Nigerian Navy constitutional roles in order to enhance national prosperity and security must be sustained.”

Adeniran further urged personnel to be “apolitical, especially in view of the forthcoming elections in the country. The improper use of social media by personnel could have untoward effects on military operations.”

He added: “we must work in collaboration with other sister services and security agencies to attain Nigerian Navy mission for the country, I assure all maritime stakeholders operating within the Eastern Naval Command area of responsibility that the existing interagency collaboration will be vigorously pursued and improved upon.”
