Nigerian youths honour deserving personality on service to humanity

Nigerian Youths have pledged to continue to reward any individual that distinguish him or self toward salvaging the course of humanity in the country.

They also appealed to various Civil Society Organisations and Non-Governmental in the country to step up their game and lead the campaign to stop violence against women and children in the society.

The youths who were drawn across the thirty six states of the federation and FCT under Congress of Nigeria Youth, CONYON, made the appealed when honouring the President and Founder of an Abuja based Non – Governmental Organisation, “Sure Smiles Women and children Advocacy Initiatives” Dr Chioma Uzo-Udegbunam as an Icon of Humanity and Societal Change in Nigeria in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

While presenting her with the Award,  the President of the group, Comrade Abdul-Muminu Ibrahim who revealed that she was nominated for the award for her consistent campaign for women emancipation in Nigeria added that Dr Chioma Uzo – Udegbuanam bagged the 2019 Leadership Award of Excellence from the group for her contributions to the development of the society.

The Leader of the group also hinted that, they have being following most of her programmes ranging from youths empowerment, skills acquisitions, visit to Orphanage homes and reaching out to the windows.

He added that most importantly her role on the campaign to stop the violence against women and children in the society has stood her out to earn the award from the group.

He further explained that the she was chosen for distinguishing herself in her chosen career, for service to humanity and development of her fatherland.

Ibrahim observed that Uzo-Udegbunam has used her NGO, Sure Smiles Women and Children Advocacy Initiative, to advocate for women and girl-child emancipation, as well as campaign against gender-based violence in the society.

You will remember that in every African country, women are being treated as second class citizens. However, we have an NGO that has been sensitising the women to know that as a woman you can even do better than the men. That is the campaign she has been leading, which also corroborates with our agenda of one Nigeria“, he noted.

While responding, Dr Uzo-Udegbunam who is also a Director of Admin and Audit with the Nigerian Federal capital territory administration, FCTA, expressed satisfaction that her contributions and advocacy for women and girl-child emancipation is being recognized and appreciated.

She explained that her pet project was founded to correct the imbalance and to bring about gender equality in the society.

The CEO of the organization added that her NGO has been doing so much to elevate the girl-child and vulnerable women in the society.
