Nigeria’s Border closure reduces illegal arms importation

A University Don, Professor Badmus Lanre-Yusuf says the closure of Nigeria’s border posts has reduced cases of illegal importation of arms.

“This is a good development and evergreen achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government as it has assisted in curbing insecurity,” he said.

Professor Lanre-Badmus, a lecturer of lslamic Studies at the University of llorin, said this in an interview with newsmen in llorin, the Kwara State capital.

Economy boosted
He stated that “the closure had also helped the  economy as some Nigerians who patronise foreign goods especially food items now go for made in Nigeria goods.”

Professor Lanre-Badmus said local farmers and manufactuters were now counting their gains and assisting the nation’s economic growth.

The Don appealed to the Nigerian government to put all necessary logistics in place before reopening the borders, to maximise the benefits which includes peace and economic prosperity.
