The trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian stock exchange took a negative turn on Tuesday with benchmark index depreciating by 0.53%.
All share index closed by 0.53% or 24,479.16 basis points on Tuesday being 379.73 lower than Monday’s 24,858.89.
The Market Capitalization depreciated by 2 billion or 0.53% to close at N12.76 trillion on Tuesday as against 12.96 trillion on Monday.
At the end of the day’s trading a total of 280.66 million volume of shares valued at N13.13 billion were traded in 4,464 deals.
Top gainers were Okomuoil which gained 9.94 percent or N7.00k to close at N77.40k followed by Nigerian Breweries which gained 3.14 percent or N1.10k to close at N36.10k.
Then Vitafoam gained 5.47percent or N0.29k to close at N5.59k.
Top losers were Buacement which lost 10.00 percent or N4.30k to close at N38.70k followed by Dangote cement which lost 0.7 percent or N1.00k to close at N127.00k.
Also Waco lost N7.41percent or N0.80k to close at N10.00k.
FBNH dominated activity chart exchanging 68,210 million shares worth N365.02million while Nigerian Breweries traded 22,520 shares valued at N805.4 million.
Tuesdays trading ended with 10 gainers and 34 losers.
On Sectoral performance, consumer goods index recorded a gain of 0.18%, while industrial recorded a decline of 7.5%, then insurance recorded a decline of 0.04%, just as Oil and gas recorded a decline of 0.43% and banking goods index recorded a decline of 1.32% .
