The Nigerian stock exchange has after the close of trading activity on Monday, depreciated by 0.06 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 36,479.42 basis points, falling by 20.25 basis points as against friday’s closing of 36,499.67 basis points.
The market capitalisation closed at N13,315 trillion compared to Friday’s closing of N13,322 trillion, falling by 7 billion Naira.
Investors traded 1.8 million shares worth 2.03 billion Naira in 3,203.00 deals as 21 stocks gained,26 fell while all others remained the same.
CONSOLIDATED HALLMARK INSURANCE PLC topped the gainers’ table by 0.03 kobo or 10.00 per cent to close at 0.33 kobo per share.
NIGER INSURANCE CO. PLC. opened for transaction at 0.30 kobo per share to close at 0.33 kobo per share, gaining 0.03 kobo per share or 10.00 per cent.
UNION DIAGNOSTIC & CLINICAL SERVICES PLC followed with an opening price of 0.33 kobo per share and a closing price of 0.36 kobo per share, gaining 0.03 kobo or 9.09 per cent.
IKEJA HOTEL PLC led the failures chart with an opening price of N3.13 kobo per share to close at N2.82 kobo per share, falling by 0.31 kobo or 9.90 per cent.
ALUMINIUM EXTRUSION IND. PLC was next with an opening price of N9.20 kobo per share and a closing price of N8.30 kobo per share, falling by 0.90 kobo or 9.78 per cent.
Then BETA GLASS PLC which opened for transaction at N85.80 kobo per share and closed at N78.00 kobo per share, fell by N7.80 kobo or 9.09 per cent.
Meanwhile, a total turnover of 1.391 billion shares worth N20.316 billion in 20,064 deals were traded by investors on the floor of the Exchange in the week which commenced on Monday, 30th July and ended Friday, 3rd August, 2018.
This is in contrast to a total of 1.417 billion shares valued at N16.739 billion that exchanged hands the previous week in 19,832 deals.
The Financial Services Industry, when measured by volume, led the activity chart with 824.153 million shares valued at N9.274 billion traded in 11,620 deals; thus contributing 59.23% and 45.65% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The Services Industry followed with 308.871 million shares worth N1.256 billion in 610 deals. The third place was occupied by Consumer Goods Industry with a turnover of 86.151 million shares worth N8.073 billion in 3,103 deals.
Trading in the Top Three Equities namely; Nigerian Aviation Handling Co. Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc and Zenith International Bank Plc when measured by volume, accounted for 460.997 million shares worth N5.273 billion in 2,513 deals, contributing 33.13% and 25.95% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
EXCHANGE TRADED PRODUCTS
Also traded within that week were a total of 2,304 units of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) valued at N376,541.65 executed in 16 deals, compared with a total of 344 units valued at N50,021.24 that was transacted the previous week in 5 deals.
A total of 16,463 units of Federal Government Bond valued at N18.200 million were traded in the just concluded week in 27 deals compared with a total of 7,518 units valued at N7.668 million transacted the week before in 9 deals.
The NSE All-Share Index depreciated by 0.37% while Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.38% to close the week at 36,499.67 and N13.322 trillion respectively.
Similarly, all other indices finished lower with the exception of the NSE CG, NSE 30, NSE Banking and the NSE Oil/Gas Indices that appreciated by 0.55%, 0.10%, 0.83% and 6.76%.
SUMMARY OF PRICE CHANGES
Thirty-four (34) equities appreciated in price in that week, higher than thirty-one (31) in the previous week. Forty-eight (48) equities depreciated in price, same as forty-eight (48) equities of the previous week, while eighty-seven (87) equities remained unchanged lower than ninety (90) equities recorded in the preceding week.
Bonds: A total volume of 79,985 units of 10.483% FGNSB JULY 2020 and 263,065 units of 11.738% FGNSB DEC 2019 were admitted to trade at the Exchange on the 1st of August, 2018.
Equity: A total volume of 1,612,066,200 ordinary shares of 50k each of Notore Chemical & Industries Plc at N62.50 per share were admitted on the Daily Official List of the Exchange on the 2nd of August, 2018.
