After the close of trading activities on the floor of the Exchange on Friday, the NSE All-Share Index fell closing the day’s transactions at 27,306.81 basis points, which is 0.43 percent or 118.11 basis points lower than previous closing of 27,424.92 on Thursday.
All other sectoral indices, with the exception of NSE Industrial Index, NSE Oil/Gas Index, NSE Insurance Index and NSE Premium Index, also closed on the negative.
Likewise, the NSE Market Capitalization fell by 0.43 percent or 58 billion Naira to close on Friday at 13,307 trillion Naira as against Thursday’s 13,365 trillion Naira.
Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was negative as 14 stocks recorded losses relative to 11 gained.
MTN NIGERIA COMMUNICATIONS PLC led the gainers by volume, moved from N129.55 per share to end the day at N131 per share, advancing by N1.45k or 1.12%.
LAFARGE AFRICA PLC was next with a previous closing price of N14.35 per share and a new closing price of N15, gaining 0.65k or 4.53%.
While CUSTODIAN INVESTMENT PLC followed with a volume gain of 0.5k or 9.09%, moving from previous closing price of N5.5 per share to a new closing price of N6 per share.
On the flip side however, ZENITH BANK PLC led the decliners by volume when it moved from a previous closing price of N16.8 per share to a new closing price of N16.35 per share, declining therefore by -0.45k or -2.68%.
Next is GUARANTY TRUST BANK PLC with a previous closing price of N26.9 per share and a present closing price of N26.5 per share, declining in volume by -0.4k or -1.49%.
Then UNITED BANK FOR AFRICA PLC which had a previous closing price of N5.8 per share, occupied the third top decliner by volume to close at N5.55 per share, falling by -0.25k or -4.31%.
The top trades of the day were led by GUARANTY TRUST BANK PLC with a volume of 129,236 million units of shares traded at the value of N3.475 billion.
ZENITH BANK PLC and TRANSNATIONAL CORPORATION OF NIGERIA PLC followed with 34,997 million units of shares and 10,201 million units of shares traded at N577,850 million and N8,862 million respectively.
In all, investors traded 220,801 million units of shares at the value of N4.478 billion in 2,702.00 deals compared with 279.63 million units, valued at N2.68 billion, and exchanged in 3,498 deals on Thursday.
Amaka E. Nliam
