NSE benchmark index depreciates by 0.39%

The Nigerian Stock Exchange resumed trading for the week with the benchmark index declining by 0.39 percent.

While the All Share Index fell by 108.32 basis points from 27,800.17 basis points recorded on Friday, to close on Monday at 27,691.85 basis points.

The Market Capitalisation on the other hand fell by 52 billion Naira from previous closing of 13,524 trillion Naira, to close today at 13,472 trillion Naira.

In today’s transactions, Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was negative as 18 stocks appreciated while 21 declined.


Top on the gainers’chart is ASSOCIATED BUS COMPANY PLC which commenced trading at 0.30kobo per share and closed at 0.33kobo per share, gaining 0.03kobo or 10.00 percent.

Followed by SOVEREIGN TRUST INSURANCE PLC which closed at 0.20kobo per share on Friday and stood at 0.22kobo per share on Monday, gaining 0.02kobo or 10.00 percent.

Then JOHN HOLT PLC resumed transactions on Monday at 0.46kobo per share but closed at 0.50kobo per share, gaining 0.04kobo or 8.70 percent.


Conversely, FORTE OIL PLC led the losers’ table by N1.60kobo or 10.00 percent when it closed on Monday at N14.40kobo per share after opening at N16.00 per share.

Also SEPLAT PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT COMPANY PLC fell by 10.00 percent or N49.00 to close at N441.00 per share after commencing transactions at N490.00 per share.

While JULIUS BERGER NIG. PLC occupied the third top loser spot when it opened at N20.60kobo per share and closed at N18.55kobo per share, declining by N2.05kobo or 9.95 percent.
