NSE: Benchmark index drops by 0.25%

The Nigerian Stock Exchange benchmark index closed with a 0.25% fall where 13 stocks posted gains and 15 stocks posted declines.

At the close of Wednesday’s trading, the Market Capitalisation stood at N13,281 trillion, losing 34 billion Naira when compared to Tuesday’s 13,315 trillion Naira.

It would be recalled that the NSE benchmark index on Monday closed at 0.15% as 18 stocks posted gains while 24 stocks posted declines.

On Tuesday, the ASI was at 1.08% with 6 stocks posting gains while 28 stocks posted declines.

The All Share Index which previously closed at 27,352.24 basis points, closed at 27,283.05 basis points. Showing a 69.19 basis points fall.

The total number of Shares traded were 462.315 million at the value of 7.925 billion Naira in 2,895.00 deals.


ACCESS BANK PLC was the most traded stock with 133.534 million shares worth N926.418 million.


CONTINENTAL REINSURANCE PLC was the most appreciated stock by value, gaining 0.15kobo or 9.55 percent to close at N1.72k per share up from N1.57k per share.

Followed by CORNERSTONE INSURANCE PLC which moved from 0.39k per share to 0.42k per share, gaining 0.03k or 7.69 percent.

And CUSTODIAN INVESTMENT PLC appreciated from N5.85k per share to N6.30k per share, gaining 0.45k or 7.69 percent.


On the reverse side however, SKYWAY AVIATION HANDLING COMPANY PLC led the losers’ chart with a 0.46k or 9.89 percent fall from N4.65k per share to N4.19k per share.

NPF MICROFINANCE BANK PLC was the next top loser by 0.12k or 9.84 percent, declining from N1.22k per share to close at N1.10k per share.

Then UACN PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT COMPANY PLC which had a previous closing price of N1.28k per share, closed on Wednesday at N1.16k per share, falling by 0.12k or 9.38 percent.
