The Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE says it has detailed activities that will promote industrial growth in Nigeria and also enable it to be at par with the developed world.
NSE President Adekunle Mokuolu told Journalists that the Society at its recently concluded conference and annual general meeting in Kano, recommended that the Presidential Executive Order 5 should be passed into an Act.
Engineer Mokuolu said the recommendation was imperative considering its credibility for sustainable industrial growth in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari had in 2018, signed Executive Order 5 to improve local content in public procurement with science, engineering and technology components.
The Executive Order is expected to promote the application of science, technology and innovation towards achieving the nation’s development goals across all sectors of the economy.
In line with the theme of the NSE conference, Building Resilient Infrastructure to Promote Sustainable Industrial Growth, Eng. Mokuolu said participants at the conference recommended the prioritization of power supply for industrial use above domestic consumption.
He also lay emphasis that all players in the power sector should show more patriotism in discharging their responsibilities to Nigerians and the sector’s bilateral trade with other countries should commence immediately.
