Dr Franklin Osaisai, a Nuclear Scientist has declared his intention to contest for the governorship seat at the November 9 election in Bayelsa State, southern Nigeria.
Osaisai made the declaration in his community, Koluama situated along the Atlantic coastline in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, during a church service at St John’s Anglican Church.
According to Osaisai, said his decision to make the declaration in the church was to show respect and humility before his creator.
At the service titled ‘Solemn Declaration of Interest’, Osaisai, who was the Director-General, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, attributed his humble beginnings as a Chorister at the St John’s Anglican Church to the pinnacle of his career as the pioneer Chief Executive of the Atomic Energy Commission, to the grace of God.
“I aspire to lead the people of Bayelsa State to consolidate the achievements of Governor Seriake Dickson and it is in realization of the fact that leadership comes from God that I chose to declare my intention from where I had my humble beginning”.
“I am a firm believer and beneficiary of God’s grace and because power comes from God, I thought it wise to come to the source and declare my interest before God in the presence of people”, he further said.
The former Director General promised, “I hope to be fair to all parts of Bayelsa State as well as mobilize the people for development and progress. I position myself to lead,” he stated.
Osaisai served as Commissioner for Works in Bayelsa State under the administration of Late Governor Depriye Alamieyeseigha.
He is aspiring for the Bayelsa State governorship position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ossisai is the first person to make a public declaration to enter the contest.
