NUJ trains Gombe journalists on 2019 election coverage

The Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has sensitised journalists in the state on the need for adequate, factual, fair reportage of the 2019 election activities before, during and after the elections.

Speaking at the one-day training in Gombe, the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Saidu Bappah Malala called on the journalists to do their best and ensure that they discharge their professional duties according to the rules and regulations guiding the profession.

Alhaji Malala said it was important for journalists to earn the respect and goodwill of the public, as well as other professional colleagues.

He appreciated the sponsor of the workshop, Alhaji Jamilu Isiaku Gwamna, Governorship aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party in the State, describing him as a media friendly aspirant.

In the meantime, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Suleiman, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Saidu Baba Gadam, reiterated the State Government’s commitment in ensure that a conducive working environment is created for Journalists.

He said no government would succeed in its programmes without the Media playing its role as one of the major stakeholders.
