Osun governorship aspirant promises improved governance

Yinka Salaam, Osogbo

Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Mr Fatai Akinbade.

Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State promises better life for people of Osun state within one year if given opportunity to govern the state.

Mr Fatai Akinbade gave this assurance at the official presentation of the party’s flag to him ahead of the September 22 governorship election in Osun where he said He said ‘the sad and ripple effects of misrule’ in the state shall become history.

Addressing thousands of party enthusiasts from across the federation, Akinbade noted that the massive turnout of supporters and party leaders was a sign of readiness for a change of governance.

“This impressive turnout is an evidence that our people are yearning for a change at the helms of affairs after eight years of bad governance. Our people now move about in despair as all sectors in the state have collapsed,” he said.

A former Secretary to the state government promised to offer a high qualified leadership that would inspire an all-round development in Osun if he emerged governor.

Formidable platform
“Our party, ADC, is determined to provide an alternative platform to the people of the state. As true democrats, we are committed to providing a strong and formidable platform for true development and progress of our state for the benefit of all,”
Akinbade said.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu who formally presented the flag to Akinbade in Osogbo, the state capital, raised hopes on ADC’s ability to emerge victorious through Akinbade’s candidacy.

He said the party would present the first ADC governor through the election in Osun.

“ADC owns the change. Oyinlola took ADC from a container shop to become an intercontinental brand.

Strength of character
“The party is in the making. It takes the strength of character to build a house you could call your own. You don’t necessarily always need to jump from one party to the other,”
Nwosu stated.

He urged the electorates to resist either ‘Lagos or Abuja Boys’ political trend in Osun State and implored them not to allow any influential political figure to impose a governor on them.

“Akinbade remains the best brand. He is highly experienced and has learnt so much under former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. I am sure he (Akinbade) will bring his wealth of political experience to bear when he flies to the Abere Government Secretariat on the wings of ADC in September.”

“Our government which has become an international brand will not share money but will use it to deliver major projects in every community,” Nwosu enthused.

ADC National Leader and former governor of Osun, Prince Oyinlola expressed support for the Osun West agenda which favours Akinbade.

Grassroot politician
“Akinbade remains the best candidate among other candidates from the zone. With his political pedigree as a grassroot politician, and as a former commissioner and Secretary to the state government, he will obtain the people’s votes in an overwhelming proportion and emerge the next governor of the state,”
he said.

Oyinlola assured the people that, as a former Secretary under him, Akinbade knows best, how to take care of the traditional rulers, workers, pensioners, pilgrims, market women, the youths as well as the less privileged in the state.

The Chairman of the party in Osun State, Kazeem Adio said ADC administration shall focus on Agriculture and Infrastructural development.

He said workers should be adequately taken care of and all arrears of salaries and gratuities would be cleared within one year of the ADC’s administration.
