Lecturers at the University of Osun have embarked on a national warning strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress and other unions.
Their declaration was announced by the branch chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. M. O. Abanikannda at an emergency congress held at the main campus of the university late on Thursday.
Abanikannda noted that the Nigeria Labour Union warning strike became necessary in order to press for the conclusion of negotiations on the minimum wage.
The branch chairperson, who is also the chairman of the Branch Strike Monitoring Committee, explained that the they would move round the campuses of the university to ensure total compliance.
While the strike is on, academic members are to abstain from all official engagements, regular and part time teaching, including statutory and other committee meetings.
