The Oyo State Government has cancelled the mid-term break for the third term of the 2018/2019 academic session for all public primary and secondary schools in the State.
The Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Department of Schools, Mr. I.O. Adeosun, disclosed in a circular directed to all relevant education bodies in the State, that the cancellation came in view of the number of days the students had stayed out of the classroom, as a result of public holidays and strike actions.
The circular which directs all relevant regulatory bodies in the State to ensure strict compliance reads in part, “I am to inform you that in view of the number of days the students of public primary and secondary schools have stayed out of classrooms for the reasons of public holidays and strike actions, the mid-term break for the third term 2018/2019 academic session is hereby cancelled.”
“All concerned are advised to ensure coverage of lost grounds to the benefits of the students. Kindly give this circular the widest coverage it deserves,” it says.
The mid-term break was initially scheduled for Thursday 13th and Friday 14th June, 2019, for all schools in the State.
