Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde is set to commission at least six Model schools in the State as part of events outlined to commemorate his first 100 days in Office.

The projects, which were executed under the Federal Government Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, and Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, intervention projects, were spread across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The Governor has also promised a speedy completion of all on-going UBEC-FG/SUBEB projects in the state before the year ends, giving assurance that pupils would begin to enjoy a better lease in their pursuit of basic education.

Reviving the education sector
The Chairman, Oyo SUBEB, Dr Nureni Adeniran said the move was part of the state government’s efforts to provide quality education to indigent pupils in the State, describing it as an attestation to the kind and genuine gestures the governor has in reviving the education sector of the state.

“The Board has ensured that the contractors complete at least six of the ongoing projects, which are ready for commissioning by His Excellency,”Adeniran stated.

The model schools, equipped with modern facilities and due to be commissioned are located in Ibadan, Oyo and Oke-Ogun regions of the State.

The facilities in the schools include classrooms, sickbays, science laboratories, computer rooms, libraries and halls.

“I can assure you that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration would ensure that education is not only made free for pupils across this State, but would also make the schools worth attending for the pupils. Our pro-activeness brought about these finished works. We ensured these projects are completed by the contractors on site,” he said.
