Passengers ‘feared trapped in Cameroon shipwreck’

At least three people have died and dozens are believed missing after a boat capsized off the coast of Cameroon, where search and rescue operations are still looking for survivors

Some 107 people have been rescued and eight others were seriously wounded, according to the Cameroonian army, but it is not yet clear how many people were on board in total.

Several bodies are believed to be stuck inside the wreck, the army added in its statement.

Cause of accident
It says the boat had come from Nigeria and was due to dock in the Cameroonian port town of Tiko, but was sunk off the Bakassi peninsula.

Investigations into what caused the accident on Sunday are said to be under way, but initial reports suggest that the boat may have collided with a sandbar.
