The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kano state has called for total cancellation of on-going governorship election rerun in the state citing acts of political thuggery.

Acting Chairman, PDP, in Kano state, Suleiman Bichi at a media briefing said the party has witnessed massive importation of political thugs from neighbouring states of Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau among others who are voting in the election with procured PVC for them.

“Other many infractions made us to completely lose faith in the whole exercise and therefore call on INEC to cancel this election.”

He said the thugs are armed to the teeth voting with PVCs that do not belong to them, some posing as INEC staff.

“Our agents were denied access to polling units, beaten and driven away. We have reports of our agents being killed; vehicles burnt; properties destroyed in Dogowa, Nassarawa LGAs among others”.

He accused the security agencies of giving cover to these thugs to unleash mayhem.

In swift reaction, the Kano state All Progressives Congress APC, Chairman Abdulahi Abbas said the allegations are unfounded.

“We have more people here in Kano, why import people from other states. I think their allegations are a sign of defeat.”

He said they should have waited for the outcome of the election before calling for cancellation.

He urged INEC to continue with the exercise and declare the winner.

He said the state commissioner of information, finance and others were attacked by PDP thugs with their cars smashed.
