Plateau gets N28.5m COVID-19 donation from UBA

The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has received a donation of N28.5m from the United Bank for Africa, UBA’s Foundation as part of its contribution to the fight against COVID-19.

The Bank’s Regional Head in Jos, Steve Gadzama made the presentation to Governor Lalong as the state established COVID-19 endowment fund, called ‘Plateau State COVID-19 Support Fund.’ 

Mr. Gadzama said; ‘‘the bank has remained a partner to the Government of Plateau State and is happy with the measures taken so far to deal with the situation. The bank has also constructed and donated an isolation facility and incubators at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos,” he added.

Governor Lalong thanked the UBA for setting the pace in contributing to the fund.

He assured the bank that the account would be managed transparently and the money applied to critical areas including responding to the needs of the poor and people in rural areas.

“I urge other corporate Organisations and well meaning individuals to also donate to the fund through the account No; 1022751747, UBA,”the Governor stated.

The government welcomes donations of facilities, medical equipment and other consumables towards building the capacity of the State to handle the situation.
