On further investigation, it was revealed that the two men were seen giving out money to those who came to cast their votes.

A voter, who preferred anonymity said “I think these two men that the police caught stayed at the back there giving money. The female police officer, who caught them was watching and I guess she suspected what was going on and see, they were caught in the act”.

“We have been hearing vote buying. This is not the first time. It happens, but today I thank God that the police has arrested people in Cross River State. I do not like this thing at all” said the resident.

The policemen seriously warned against taking pictures of the culprits as they escorted the suspect into the Airport Police station directly opposite Airport field polling units in Calabar Municipality.

Earlier, at the INEC office, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Frankland Briyai was seen deploying collation officers to their various collation centres across the State.

Briyai, who could not speak with Voice of Nigeria at the time, said the task ahead was vital to the success of the electoral process and needs totally concentration and commitment.
