The Presidency says it has no comment on the threat by the National Assembly to evoke its constitutional powers against President Muhammmadu Buhari.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this on Wednesday while fielding questions from State House correspondents after the cabinet meeting chaired by President Buhari.
Asked what the Presidency’s comment on the threat was, the presidential spokesman said: “No, nothing.”
Both chambers of the National Assembly had, at a joint executive session on Tuesday, asked the President to take action of the twelve point resolution presented at the end of the meeting or risk impeachment.
They had threatened to invoke their constitutional powers, should Buhari fail to act on the resolutions which included a call on security agencies to redouble their efforts to contain the killings across Nigeria and protect citizens’ lives and property.
