Presidency to lay 2020 budget before legislators next month

The Presidency has assured the National Assembly that the 2020 appropriation bill would be laid before its hallowed chamber next month, when the legislators resume from their recess.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha gave the assurance on Wednesday at the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers.

He therefore, urged the ministers to immediately start work, especially on the 2020 budget estimates.

Mustapha told the Ministers that: “You are expected to familiarize yourselves with your various ministries within this particular period and set out to work particularly on the budget, taking cognizance of the fact that we have assured the National Assembly that we are sending in the budget immediately they return from recess.”

He also said the new ministers are expected to sign their mandate papers, to further cement their positions.

“We will send out the Ministerial mandate for you to review within two weeks with the Permanent Secretaries assigned to your ministries and attest your signatures and return for the purposes of safe keep and also monitoring and coordination,” he said.

The Ministers had since started resuming at their various ministries.
