President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday sent his appreciation to Nigerians for keeping faith with the governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Reacting to the recent good outing by the APC at the bye-elections conducted in Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States, where the party clinched two Senatorial and one House of Representatives seats, the President expressed delight at the outcome of the election.
“I would like to thank the people in those three states for keeping faith with our party and the government in spite of the effort by some disgruntled elements to cause confusion and instability in the country,” he said.
The President who commended security agencies and the electoral body, INEC for doing a good job, was optimistic that citizens of the country would not yield to the bidding of selfish politicians as the 2019 general election approaches.
“Nigerians have demonstrated that they will not be misled by desperate and corrupt elements that are bent on causing mayhem, to misrepresent development and achievements being recorded in our country.
“In addition, I thank the security agencies for keeping order and assisting INEC to conduct free, fair and transparent elections,” he said.
President Buhari, who has been in London on a short vacation, is expected back in Nigeria this weekend.
