President Buhari attends Kano Governor Daughter’s wedding

The ancient city of Kano was agog on Saturday as President Mohammadu Buhari  and other dignitaries attended the wedding fatiha of the daughter of Governor of Kano State Dr Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, held in Kano.

President Buhari stood as the guidance to the bride at the colourful ceremony.

The National leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu also stood as the guidance to the groom who is a son to the Governor of Oyo State, Bola Ajumobi.

The sum of N50,000 was paid as the bride price or dowry which Tinubu representing the groom’s father handed over to President Buhari as custom demands for onward transmission to the bride’s family.

The Marriage between Idris Abolaji Ajumobi and Fatima Ganduje was solemnized at exactly 12:30 pm at the Kano central Mosque by the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi 11 and was assisted by the Chief Imam of the Mosque professor, Sani Zarhadeen.

Important institution
The Emir said marriage is religious injunction which all believers must respect.

“Marriage is a very important institution in the society. Allah has directed all Muslim adult who is gainfully employed or has a means of lively hood to marry a woman he loves and the two starts up their home in love and harmony”

The emir also advised the couple to live together in peace as each of them has roles to play in the family to make it a success.

Crème du la crème of the society attended the wedding ceremony including 22 Governors, Senators, diplomats and well-meaning Nigerians from different parts of the country.

A colourful grand reception was held at the government house, Kano to entertain the teeming guest.

The event was held under tight security.

The introduction of the marriage was held in November 2017, also in Kano.
