President Buhari departs Niamey for Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Niamey, Niger Republic for Nigeria at the end of AU Summit.

He departed the Diori Hamani international airport Niger at 10: 42 GMT aboard his presidential jet alongside his wife and other personal aides.

He was bid farewell by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Niger, Attahiru Haliru and Niger’s Minister of Professional Education, Tijani Abdulkadir after a brief ceremony.

Meanwhile, the 33rd Summit of the AI has ended with a call on African countries to continue to collaborate in order to achieve the goals of the African Free Trade Zone.

Egypt’s President and out gone Chairman of AU, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi made the call in his closing remarks.

He thanked member nations of the AU, especially Nigeria for signing the agreement as well as other countries that have already submitted their instruments of ratification.

South Africa’s President, Ramaphosa, was elected AU Chairman for the next one year.
