President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigerian Military and other security agencies to locate girls from Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State and inform him of developments.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammmed announced this to State House Correspondents, while briefing them on what transpired at Wednesday’s meeting of the Federal Executive Council, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Mr. President has directed military and other security agencies to take immediate charge and control Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, and informed him of developments,” he said.
The Minister said a federal government delegation had also been directed to embark on a fact finding mission to Dapchi on Thursday, February 22.
“He has released a delegation led by the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan-Ali (Retired) to Dapchi, to get first hand information as to what is happening. Others in the delegation are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geofrey Onyeama and I, the Minister of Information, (Alhaji Lai Mohammed,)” the Minister stated.
The information Minister added that the President was in direct contact with the Military and Police and “as soon as we get any information we will let you know.”
The President’s office also made the announcement in a series of tweets.
I have directed the Military and Police to mobilize immediately to ensure that all the missing girls of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, are found. The Minister of Defence will also lead a Federal Government delegation to Yobe tomorrow, to ascertain the situation.

A number of students were said to have been kidnapped by boko haram insurgents on Monday from a school in Yobe and government is poised to ensure they regain their freedom.
