President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress APC and Governors elected under the platform of the party to make sure they institutionalize the party.

The President said doing so will guarantee continuous existence of the party for many years.

The President made the remark when he received APC Governors who paid him a congratulatory visit to the Presidential Villa on Friday.

He said: “What I will say to the Chairman of the party and Your Excellencies the Governors  in return for your congratulating me is to make sure you really institutionalize the party so that when we leave the party will continue to lead.”

President Buhari told his guests that the congratulatory message was for all because they also shared in the victory.

“I very much appreciate this effort you have made to come and congratulate me and yourselves because if I had lost this case I think the impact down, I don’t know how it will go so we are here to congratulate each other and we thank God for his mercies,” he said.

The Nigerian leader said incidentally, the judgement of the tribunal lasted almost the same time with the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, which kept him occupied, instead of thinking about the outcome form the tribunal.

“On this judgement, again it was a fabulous coincidence that it came almost the same time the first Federal Executive Council meeting of this government was taking place. It lasted about the same time with the judgement.

“I thank God for that because I think I would have gone into trauma or something. So, I was busy trying to concentrate on the memo. The first memo was on the budget and it took more than five hours. So, while you were doing your thing for nine hours, we were doing ours for about seven hours here.

“It is a very interesting coincidence and I thank God for it because I would have been in trauma or something of that sort.,” he said, as he giggled.

Speaking earlier, national Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole said the greatest selling point of President Buhari is always his integrity, which his opponents don’t possess.

“We never had doubts that you won your votes. All the issues raised by our opponents were trashed out one after the order by the Justices that sat on the panel.

“But of particular interest to us Mr. President as members of the Progressive family is that we are all aware that the only asset Mr. President has invested and continues to invest in your political journey and your political project is your integrity.

“Like the panel observed, PDP made heavy weather about your qualification to hold the office of the President, whether the President lied on oath and all of those things that have to do with the personal integrity of the President, which are the burden of the PDP and we happy that these issues were thrashed out,” he said.

On his part, leader of the Chairman of the progressive Governors forum, Atiku Bagudu, who is also the Governor of Kebbi State, said APC Governors were in the State House to congratulate the President because they were satisfied with the judgement of the tribunal.

“The APC Governors are here today to celebrate your victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal, which gave its judgment on Wednesday.

“It was a very pleasing judgment to all of us and on behalf of all of all the APC Governors, I say a big congratulation to you and our party for this success. The judgement was open to the general public as required by law and many Nigerians for the first time had the opportunity had the opportunity of following the judgment and I believe the outcome of that has silenced every critic of this administration,” he said.

The congratulatory visit by the APC Governors came on the heels of an earlier one by APC women leaders form across the nation, who were at the Presidential Villa on Thursday for the same purpose.
