The Public Complaint Commission in Nigeria has reiterated its commitment in ensuring that all complaints lodged before the Commission are resolved in good time.

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner, Alhaji Yaya Garba stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Voice of Nigeria in Abuja.

Alhaji Garba explained that the Commission is working towards improving its service delivery for effective, accessible and responsive resolution across the country.

“To reach out to the public more effectively we need your collaboration and understanding. The media is a crucial partner in reporting and addressing administrative injustice and it is our duty and responsibility to ensure that we collaborate with your agency for it to play this very important role in line with the change agenda of Mr. President and in the interest of Nigeria.

We are working assiduously towards improving on our service delivery. Our goal is to build a more efficient organisation that is responsive to the yearnings of Nigerians within the FCT. As ever before, the commission is committed to serving Nigerians. Nigerians can count on us to speak for them whenever they require our assistance,” he said.

While responding, the Director General, Voice of Nigeria VON, Mr Osita Okechukwu, said that VON would work with the Commission to make sure that aggrieved Nigerians receive justice and also to promote Nigeria’s image and democracy through effective reportage and coverage.

“Anybody whose interest is trampled upon, we need to rescue that person… if the person is suffering unjustly it is our task. I don’t know how many cases you have taken to court because it is important as well that some of the issues are taken to court because the judiciary and the media are twins in advancing democracy.

We on our part will do our best to report things the way they are in other for justice to reign,” he explained.

Mr Okechukwu noted that the media being an integral part of any society and promoter of good governance must contribute to national development.

He added that Voice of Nigeria would always promote democracy and Nigeria’s image to the world.
