Nasarawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr. Uthman Ajidagba, has called on the electorates to remain calm as they await results of the Governorship and House of Assembly election.
The REC stated this after touring some of the Polling Units across the State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner visited wakili mada, kofarbuka, kofar dazumi, kofar mission, Hussain Ogu units of Sabon gari and Galadima wards in both Lafia and Doma Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
Twenty-eight candidates are vying for the governorship position in the state, while there are twenty-four seats in the State House of Assembly
The REC expressed satisfaction with the electoral process in the State.
“we prayed that the peace will continue and for peace to continue, it has to be made happen by the people, so far there has not been any violence and we pray there’s no violence,” he said.
He enjoined people to remain peaceful as they await the results of the polls in the spirit of sportsmanship.
He added that, “there is no way votes will not count because we have introduce mechanism by way of technology, each polling unit has card reader and the card readers are performing, we will ensure peoples vote count and are counted.”
Nasarawa state has one thousand, four hundred and ninety-five polling units while election took place in one thousand, seven hundred and sixty-one voting points.
Voting stopped at various voting points at 3:30pm while counting and collation of results are on-going
