Reps advocate forensic audit of land in FCT

Forensic analysis is to be conducted on land in the Federal Capital Territory to establish authenticity of owners.

The Chairman House of Representatives’ adhoc committee on the sale of land by developers, Mr. Gaza Jonathan Gbwefi made this known during an investigative hearing in Abuja.

Mr. Gaza Jonathan said illegal sale of land to estate developers to the unsuspected citizens in the FCT was getting rampant and hence the need to investigate these illegal activities in order to put a stop to it.

He disclosed that the committee was aware of a court injunction in Abuja stopping a developers from the further sale of houses to unsuspected citizens which it has not stopped.

The Chairman maintained that the Parliament was not going to condone this illegality and pledged thorough job would be done for the right thing to be done.

Some companies expressed concerns over late invitation to appear before the committee and sought for the investigative hearing to be extended to allow them to prepare adequately for the hearing.

Over one hundred estate developers attended the public hearing.
