Contented with the efforts of security agencies to stem the tide of criminalities, the business community in Cross River State has donated provisions worth millions to a special joint task force known as Operation Skolombo.

Operation Skolombo was established in 2015 by Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, southern Nigeria, as a special group comprising the army, navy, air force, police and the civil defence corps to clamp down on gangsterism as well as support the fight against militancy, armed robbery and kidnapping.

A member of the business community and Chief Executive of Everyhome Integrated Services Limited, manufacturers of different bands of corn cereal, Mr. Ubong Akpan donated the provisions at the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army headquarters in Calabar city.

Akpan, who noted that the effort of the taskforce was positively impacting small scale businesses, said “we want to appreciate what the security network is doing in Cross River State. We are glad to see them on the road everyday in the rain and under the sun”.

“We appreciate the considerable calmness their efforts have achieved. We felt we should associate with them and in our little way tell them thank you for what they have been doing”, stated the entrepreneur.

Explaining further on the donations made, he said “we keenly observed their needs and thought it wise to donate these ready-to-use provisions to show them that we care, we appreciate and need them to continue”.

The Representative of Operation Skolombo thanked the entrepreneur for the gesture and promised to intensify efforts to make the State conducive for local businesses to thrive.
