Senate adopts conference report on electoral Act, alters election order

The Nigerian Senate has adopted the conference committee report of the National Assembly on the 2010 electoral Act as amended.

The report provided for a reversal in the order of Nigeria’s general election starting with the 2019 polls, and allowing the Presidential election to hold last, after those of the state Assemblies, and Governorship.

However, some senators have opposed the adoption process and are currently protesting the latest development.

Details to follow soon.
