Senator tells APC faithful in Sokoto to remain determined

Supporters of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Sokoto have been urged to be hopeful of the party’s landmark strides ahead of the 2019 polls in the state and Nigeria.

The Former Governor and the Senator representing Sokoto Central Senatorial District, Aliyu Wammakko gave the advice as he arrived in the state on Saturday.

Reacting to the recent defection of Governor Aminu Tambuwal and others from the governing party to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Wammakko said they would all regret their actions.

 “They are passionately wasting their time as politics is local and we have our base at the grassroots where we all came from to take APC to greater heights,” Senator Wamakko said.

APC remains unshaken
Senator Wamakko who was received by thousands of supporters with APC stakeholders reassured the people that the governing party in the state and Nigeria remained resolute and unshaken in delivering its promises to the citizenry.

He stated that he was not in the game of abusive nor hate speech politics, but urged all supporters to be calm, stressing that APC has already started celebrating victory of elections come 2019.

The contest is not between himself and Tambuwal , but APC and the almost dead opposition PDP and I am confident that APC is second to none in Sokoto state because all strata of people are with our great party… I am sure that even people outside Sokoto know it all, Senator Wamakko stated.

The Former Governor said ; I don’t not advertise myself but my conduct and sense of humane speak for me to the people of Sokoto state.

“ The journey as ever, is synonymous with service delivery, good governance, peace, stability, security and the advancement of economic prosperity through ensuring the provision of infrastructure as well the fight against corruption.’’

He said the current political trend was not in any way going to affect the giant strides of the governing party, noting that it has strengthened APC led government ahead of the 2019 polls.

“APC is a party for all and working for all. We are determined to protect your mandate at all levels without any negative recourse,’’ he added.

The APC Chairman in Sokoto, Alhaji Isah Achida said the people fast identifying with the party’s purposeful leadership through the support of Senator Wamakko.

“Sokoto is for APC, Wamakko and President Buhari” he said.

Support for President Buhari
The APC Chairman urged all APC supporters in the State to give more confidence to President Muhammadu Buhari for more dividends of democracy.

Also speaking, Senator Ibrahim Gobir from Sokoto East senatorial District said they were confident of the political resilience and determination of members of the governing APC for striving to defend the course of the party as well resisted attempts to cause them to defect.

“Today, we have 2 senators, 7 representatives and 12 state lawmakers with us ready to work for the victory of the party come 2019,” Senator Gobir said.

On behalf of the representative members, Musa Adar berated Governor Tambuwal and scored him low for trivialising politics.

Adar said that the new PDP convert could not initiate infrastructure projects since his election as Governor of Sokoto in the last 3 years hence affecting the state drive for development.

He said despite the revenues and funds accruing to the state, there was nothing to show for it and the people were saddened over the negative event against their prosperity caused by the Governor Tambuwal.

Shunning negative political agents
Adar urged supporters to eschew the antics of negative political agents of doom who specialise in merchandising failed vision.

He added that APC supporters and party members have now realised those antics and can now separate the grains from the chef.

Those at the rally in solidarity for the new beginning were Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Sokoto, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Tanzania Alhaji Sahabi Gada, Alhaji Muhammadu Dingyadi, former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Morocco, Abubakar Wurno, former Minister of Transport and Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman among other notable politicians in the state.
