Senator Wamakko to build first private university in Sokoto

The Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District and Chairman Senate Committee on Defense, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has concluded all necessary arrangement to establish the first private University in Sokoto.

In a statement issued in Sokoto State North West Nigeria, it said Senator Wamakko made the disclosure when he picked  the ten Copies of Forms for the establishment of Private University called, “The North West University of Science, ” at the National Universities Commission’s Secretariat (NUC), in Abuja.

He said that, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States has no private University to cater for the large number of students seeking University education.

He further commended NUC for their support during his tenure in office as a Sokoto State Governor.

Senator Wamakoo said he operated a free and compulsory education system in Sokoto State during his two terms in office, so he believes that establishing university of this nature would help in educational development of the State and the country at large.

He added that as a University of Science it would continue to support and improve research works and development in the State.

Earlier, the NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, had lamented the lack of private University in the Sokoto axis to cater for  the need of the  teaming populace who are willing to subscribe for the University education.

The Executive Secretary also commended the Senator for establishing the University with a view to uplifting the standard of education in the area and the entire nation.
