Seven displaced communities vote in Naka, Benue state

Internally Displaced Persons IDPs, from seven communities in Gwer West Local government area have cast their ballots in Naka, Gwer West Central of Benue State.

Monitoring Elections in nineteen polling units in the local government, Voice of Nigeria observed that majority of the electorates at the polling units are from Sengev,Mbabuande, Injaha, Mgbagatougho ,Mbapa,Mbachohon , Tswarev and Gambe ushin villages recently affected by Herdsmen attack.

At the People’s Grammar School, a location for five polling units re-established to ensure the Internally Displaced persons exercise their Civic responsibilities, many of the displaced persons could not bring along their Permanent Voters Card PVC, owing to the claims that their PVCs burnt together with their houses in the recent herdsmen attack in the State.

Some people were also seen presented PVCs that were not theirs to vote.

Electorates at Sengev Ward commended the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for timely opening of polling units and early arrival of materials.

They applauded the INEC staff in Gwer West for starting the voting process at exactly 8am without any technical challenge.

At Gisa polling unit, stakeholders faced challenges of insufficient security Personnel to curtail some activities that are against democracy ideas.
