The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed it’s commitment to provide quality education for children.
The state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, revealed this during his remarks at a special sitting of children Executive Council as part of activities marking World Children’s Day and 30th Anniversary of the convention on the rights of the child.
Governor Tambuwal who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Sa’idu Umar, assured United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF and children that his administration would continue to accord deserved attention to the rights of the children as leaders of tomorrow.
He therefore pointed out that issue of nutrition would also be pursued vigorously by the state government in collaboration with UNICEF.
The Governor assured the children in the State that all the concerns raised by child commissioners regarding their various Ministries would be looked into for amicable solutions.
Earlier, the Child Acting Governor, Abdurrahman Mohammed Koko, who presided over the child Executive Council meeting said the convention has helped in transforming the children lives across the globe.
He called on government to come up with functional laws that would be implemented to protect the right of every child for a better future in the country.
In his remarks, the Chief Field Officer UNICEF Sokoto, Mohammedeen Fall, said during the convention concerns of youths are being raised for discussions to transform lives of the children.
Mr Fall urged all relevant stakeholders to put hand on deck to protect the right of every child for sustainable development in the country
