The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has presented the 2020 budget of N202,444,458,429.02 billion naira to the state House of Assembly.
The Budget tagged “Budget of Sustained Socio-Economic Development and Inclusiveness” has N122,829,552,208.08 for capital expenditure, while recurrent expenditure was shared into personnel and overhead costs as N32,720,626,765.80 and N46,894,279,455.14 respectively.
The sectoral allocation for the year 2020 shows that 24% of the Budget goes to Education with N47,880,096,366.202 followed by Health with N21,979,9189,998.02 representing 11% and Agriculture with N12,429,285,871.07 representing 6.14%.
He said the Budget would amongst others, focus on completion of the projects which started in the preceeding year and ensure prompt execution of new ones in line with the development policy agenda of the present administration.
The Governor said the 2020 budget is a process and a product of collective efforts and synergy among all Ministries, Department and Agencies as an indication of commitments and inclusiveness.

He said the budget was carefully formulated in tandem with government’s strong desire and commitment to address the fundamental needs of the people in all the urban and rural areas of the State.
He said his administration has laid a solid foundation during the first tenure for greater socio-economic development through commitments and policies that have direct impact to the need and aspirations of people.
Governor Tambuwal urged people of the State to continue to support government’s policies and programmes, especially the ones designed for the 2020 budget for sustainable economic and social development in the State.
Receiving the budget, the Speaker Sokoto State House of Assembly, Mr Aminu Muhammad Achida, assured the Governor that the house would carefully give the budget proper consideration for speedy passage.
Mr Achida described the relationship between the Executive and legislature in the State as cordial stressing that the State Assembly would continue to support meaningful policies for sustainable development in the State.
The Speaker thanked the Governor for the support he gives to the house in formulation of relevant laws that would take the State to greater heights.
