Sokoto State donates Motorcycles to Nigerian Army

The Sokoto State Government has donated 50 boxer motorcycles to 26 Battalion of the Nigerian Army to boost their operations in the fight against banditry.

The State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal who was represented at the hand over of the motorcycles by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mallam Saidu Umar, said the gesture was to scale up the quantum of assistance being given to the security agencies working in the state to make it easy for them to secure the lives and property of the people.

He said the donation was in continuation of the state government’s effort to strengthen the capacity of the security agencies operating in the state.

Mallam Umar said it will assist in bringing an end to the violence orchestrated by armed bandits in the Eastern part of the state.

It could be recalled that the state government had in the past few weeks handed over similar donations of operational vehicles totalling 115 to all the security agencies in the state.

Receiving the motorcycles on behalf of the Battalion, the Officer Commanding the Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Umar Ahmad Muhammad, applauded Governor Tambuwal’s efforts in assisting them to strengthen their operations in the fight against different rates of crimes in the State.

He assured the state government that the soldiers are now battle ready to confront the bandits marauding in parts of the state.

The Officer Commanding the Battalion also promised to used the motorcycles judiciously for the overall security development in the State.
