Sultan declares Thursday as end of Ramadan

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar ‎the III has declared Thursday June 14, 2018 as the end of Ramadan, 1439 AH.

Making the announcement in his Palace in Sokoto, Sultan Abubakar said the end of the fast followed reports of sighting of the moon across various states of the federation which marked the end of the month of Ramadan 1439 AH.

The Shawwal moon according to the revered leader was sighted in Sokoto, Kano, Zaria, Kaduna, Maiduguri and Jos among others.

“In accordance with the Islamic injunctions, we announce today Thursday1439AH which equivalent to June 14, 2018 has marked the end of the month of Ramadan1439AH. which followed reliable reports duly verified and certified by states and national moon sighting committees. Consequent upon which tomorrow Friday June, 15, 2018 is Eid-El- Fitr that’s Sallah,” the Sultan said.

The Sultan however prayed to Allah to accept the worship observed by Muslims during this period and urged them all to live in peace with one another irrespective of religion and ethnic backgrounds and to also celebrate their Sallah peacefully.
