The Emir of Sokoto, north western Nigeria, Sa’ad Abubakar has given his daughter Fatima’s hand in marriage in a traditional Islamic wedding ceremony that brought audience from far and near

The palace of the emir was besieged by friends, family, and well wishers from the country and abroad.

A high-powered federal government delegation led by the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Abba kyari and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, state Governors, traditional and religious leaders attended the wedding ceremony of the daughter of Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

The Sultan’s daughter Fatima Sa’ad Abubakar was giving to her groom Mahmood Abdullahi Yuguda in a grand ceremony at the Sultan’s palace on Saturday.

A dowry of N50,000 was paid by the groom as part of traditional rights.

The wedding ceremony was held at Sultan Muhammadu Bello Juma’at mosque in Sokoto State North West Nigeria.

According to tradition, Fatima Abubakar’s hand in marriage to Mahmood Abdullahi Yuguda was sought by his representative the Emir of Bauchi, Alh Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, from her representative, the Emir of Gwandu Alh Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar.

The marriage was solemnized by a group of muslim clerics popularly called Ulama according to Islamic rights.

The Ulamas, comprises the Chief Imam of Sultan Muhammad Bello juma’at mosque in sokoto, the Deputy Chief Imam of Bauchi and Professor Shehu Galadanci led by the Leader of Sokoto Clerics! Sheikh Buhari Siriddawa after the payment of fifty thousand Naira bride price.

The Muslim clerics prayed to Allah SWA to bless the union.

Also, shortly after the Islamic wedding rites, also known as wedding Fatiha, of the children, special prayers were offered to commemorate the 63rd birthday of Sultan Muhammadu Saad Abubakar by the Chief Imam of Republic of Ghana sheik Usman Sharubutu.

He prayed to Allah to continue to guide the Sultan in steering the affairs of the Muslim Community in Nigeria.

The Chief Imam also prayed to Allah to guide and protect President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver on his campaign promises especially provision of adequate and Sustainable security in the country.

Among the Governors that attended the wedding were that of Kebbi, Enugu, Adamawa, Niger, Imo, Plateau and Zamfara States with their host Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto.
Others include: business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Accountant General of the Federation, Emirs among others.
