Sunshine crisis: We need unity now – Ondo FA chairman

The Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Tajudeen Akinyemi, has sued for hard work and unity among the managers of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure.

Akinyemi made the call when he led the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, and the board members of the club to meet with the Sunshine Stars’ staff on Wednesday in Akure.

He urged the staff must work in unity to achieve success for the team.

“We must work very hard in unity to achieve our purpose. It is through your assiduous work that we can achieve our target.

“We have good players, they have the techniques and the oxygen to win games. I need you all to work together because divided we fall, united we stand,’’ he said.

A board member of the club, Yusuf-Ogunleye, assured the staff that team’s welfare and success was a top priority of the government.

He assured the Head Coach, Duke Udi, that he had not been sacked.

“Coach Duke Udi has not been sacked; he was asked to step aside, pending the determination of issues against him. And I want to tell you that the decision taken at the moment is in the best interest of the team.

“I can assure you that government is interested in your success and will do everything possible to take care of your welfare,’’ Ogunleye said.

The Technical Director of the club, Henry Abiodun, has been deployed to take charge of the team, pending the determination of the allegations levelled against the head coach.

He praised the coaching crew and pledged to work with the coaches to address the identified lapses in the team.
